 Do the needles hurt?
The sensation caused by an acupuncture needle varies form patient to patient. Some people feel a little pain as the needles are inserted, but most feel no pain. The needles are tiny, sometimes just a little larger than a cat's whisker.
During treatment, you may feel energized or a deep sense of relaxation and well being. Where the acupuncture needle has been inserted, you may feel a vague numbness, heaviness, tingling, or dull ache. Sometimes people will experience the sensation of energy spreading from the needle. This is called the "Qi" sensation. All of these reactions are a good sign that the treatment is working.
