Steamed Tien Chi
This single herb has a multitude of functions. The raw
form of this herb is most commonly used for trauma or
bleeding. It is the main ingrediant in the famous formula
Yun Nan Bai Yao. The capsule can be broken open and
sprinkled on an open wound to speed healing or it can be
used internally for pain or trauma to include anything
from bruises to breaks. It is also used to stop bleeding
and can be used for intestinal bleeding or ulcers.
Modern research has shown that it can also be used for
high cholesterol or lowering of blood pressure. The
steamed/prepared form of this herb is considered more
of a blood tonic and can be used following trauma with
excessive blood loss such as surgery, or heavy menses.
This herb (in both forms) is a blood mover that can help
with dissolving clots without risking hemorrhage and is
also used as a longevity tonic (steamed only). Do not use
this herb if you are taking any prescription blood
thinner. Use caution if you are taking this herb with a
daily asprin. Because of its blood moving properties,
do not take this herb if you are pregnant or breast
feeding.
